“Iconic Darth Vader Lightsaber Up for Auction”

Date:

In July, a lightsaber associated with Luke Skywalker’s dismembered hand from the movie “The Empire Strikes Back” was sold at auction for a record-breaking $3.75 million. This marked the highest price ever paid for a prop used in any “Star Wars” film, as confirmed by the auction house.

Now, the lightsaber responsible for the iconic severing is up for sale. A Darth Vader lightsaber, utilized in the pivotal duel in Cloud City where the famous line “I am your father” was spoken, is a highlight of the forthcoming Ultimate Star Wars Auction by Heritage Auctions scheduled for November 12.

The Vader lightsaber, featured in “Return of the Jedi” as well, is anticipated to fetch a minimum of $1 million. It is just one of over twenty lightsaber props that will be available for bidding at the auction covering the entire “Star Wars” saga from Episodes I to IX, along with props from other movies and TV shows within the expansive universe crafted by George Lucas.

Among the items up for auction are the lightsabers wielded by Ewan McGregor’s Obi-Wan Kenobi and Hayden Christensen’s Anakin Skywalker in “Revenge of the Sith,” each expected to command a starting price of $10,000. Additionally, an EE-3 carbine blaster used by Boba Fett in “The Empire Strikes Back” is estimated to fetch over $100,000.

Also included in the auction are a Yoda puppet hand operated by Frank Oz in the character’s original appearance in “The Empire Strikes Back,” Anthony Daniels’ signed personal third-draft screenplay for the original 1977 “Star Wars,” and a TIE Fighter pilot helmet from “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.”
