“Gunman Posed as Guest at White House Dinner”

Date:

A man suspected of being the attacker that led to the swift evacuation of Donald Trump from a White House correspondents’ dinner reportedly gained entry to the event as a guest.

Pandemonium erupted at the annual dinner held in the ballroom of the Washington Hilton Hotel when gunshots rang out. The event was attended by the US President, First Lady Melania Trump, Vice President JD Vance, various politicians, and hundreds of journalists among a crowd of 2,500 people.

Identified as Cole Tomas Allen, a 31-year-old from Torrance, California, on the outskirts of Los Angeles, the suspect was found armed with multiple weapons, including a shotgun, handgun, and knives.

The assailant bypassed a security checkpoint at the hotel and fired at a Secret Service agent at close range, who was fortunately protected by a bullet-proof vest.

Authorities disclosed that the suspect had not been flagged by law enforcement and had no prior criminal record.

It was revealed that the armed individual had been a guest at the Washington Hilton Hotel where the dinner was taking place.

“We do believe he was a guest here at the hotel. We have secured a room here in the hotel, and again, we’ll go through the appropriate procedures to determine what was inside there,” stated Jeffrey Carroll, interim chief of police for the Metropolitan Police Department.

The man reportedly made a charge toward the ballroom before the shooting occurred. Despite being tackled and unharmed, he was taken to a hospital for evaluation, as per police reports.

Donald Trump shared an image of the apprehended suspect being detained by law enforcement.

During a press briefing following the incident, the President indicated that the suspect acted alone and referred to him as a “lone wolf whack job.”

The suspected gunman was employed as a teacher and also worked as a video game developer in California.

A LinkedIn profile matching the suspect’s name, Cole Tomas Allen, described him as a part-time teacher at a test prep and tutoring company called C2 Education, which recognized him as “teacher of the month” in December 2024 based on social media posts.

Allen also mentioned his role as a video game developer on his LinkedIn page, stating he was currently working on a second game titled ‘First Law.’

Before this, he had released a game called Bohrdom and obtained a trademark for the name back in 2018.

Allen graduated from the California Institute of Technology in 2017 with a degree in mechanical engineering and later pursued a master’s degree in computer science from California State University-Dominguez Hills.

He had been featured in a local news report from 2017 as a student at Caltech for developing an emergency brake prototype for wheelchairs. A university spokesperson confirmed that a person named Cole Allen had earned an undergraduate degree in 2017, according to the New York Times.
