Executives in Adult Entertainment Industry Face Imprisonment for Non-Consensual Images

Date:

Top executives in the adult entertainment industry may be subject to imprisonment if they do not remove private images shared without consent. The Government has proposed changes to the Crime and Policing Bill to combat online abuse towards women and girls. Under these amendments, senior managers could face criminal repercussions if their platforms do not adhere to Ofcom’s directives to eliminate non-consensual images without a valid excuse.

Additionally, the legislation will outlaw pornography depicting incest and scenarios where adults portray children. Home Office Minister Jess Phillips emphasized the detrimental effects of fake sexual images created and distributed without consent, labeling it as sexual abuse and violence against women and girls on a large scale online.

Furthermore, tech executives could personally face consequences if their platforms do not comply with Ofcom’s orders to remove offensive content. They could be held accountable for imprisonment, fines, or both if found guilty without a reasonable excuse. The new regulations will also ban the possession and publication of content showing incestuous relationships and adult roleplaying as minors.

Moreover, the dissemination and possession of pornography featuring adults pretending to be children will be criminalized, with a maximum penalty of five years’ imprisonment for publication. Technology Secretary Liz Kendall expressed the government’s commitment to safeguarding women and girls online by taking action against tech companies that enable the dissemination of abusive content.

Baroness Bertin, Lead reviewer of the Independent Pornography Review, commended the government’s initiative to address harmful pornographic content like incest and simulated child sexual abuse, emphasizing the normalization of abusive relationships within families through easily accessible online content.
