A motorist was recently stopped by authorities on the M6 in Warwickshire and handed a ticket for a driving violation that he may not have been aware of. The man was pulled over for driving at speeds between 55mph and 60mph in the middle lane, a practice known as middle-lane hogging.
Warwickshire Police described the behavior as a “poor standard of driving” and highlighted an increasing number of drivers exhibiting similar habits. The police unit shared details of the incident on Facebook, mentioning that the driver was spotted in the middle lane with no slower traffic present in the left lane.
The driver was subsequently removed from the motorway and issued a ticket for failing to consider other road users. It is likely that he will be required to attend a driver improvement course at his own expense. Authorities emphasized the importance of maintaining appropriate speeds in the overtaking lane to prevent unnecessary lane changes and potential hazards.
Drivers were reminded to adhere to speed limits while keeping the left lane clear unless overtaking or avoiding obstacles. Failure to comply could result in penalty points on the driver’s license and a fine of £100.
