David Malukas set the pace with the quickest practice lap during the Ontario Honda Dealers Indy event in Markham. His impressive performance clocked in at 1:14.194 seconds in the second practice session of the day, with qualifying scheduled for the evening.
Following closely behind, Alex Palou secured the second-best time at 1:14.560, while Dennis Hauger claimed the third spot with a time of 1:14.592 on the challenging Markham downtown road circuit.
Due to incomplete course construction and pending safety assessments, the event organizers were forced to cancel the initial day of track activities.
This year marks Markham’s debut as the host city for the race, a shift from its longstanding location at Toronto’s Exhibition Place where it had taken place annually since its inception in 1986.
Earlier in the day, Palou had also led the morning practice session with the fastest time of 1:14.9915.
