“Daisy Chain Fields: Women’s Rights Festival Makes History”

Date:

Tens of thousands of music enthusiasts gathered at Great Park in Irvine, California, last weekend to enjoy live performances by their favorite artists in support of women’s health, reproductive rights, and the fight against gender-based violence.

The Daisy Chain Fields charity festival, organized by pop sensation Olivia Rodrigo, made history with its all-women lineup, reminiscent of the groundbreaking Lilith Fair from the 1990s. The event featured a mix of established and emerging stars, including Chappell Roan, Doechii, Bikini Kill, and Garbage.

Before the festival kicked off, Rodrigo revealed that they had raised $10 million for the event’s 10 non-profit partners, such as Planned Parenthood and the National Institute for Reproductive Health. Philanthropist Melinda French Gates matched this amount, bringing the total to $20 million.

Rodrigo’s inspiration for the festival’s name, “Daisy Chain,” symbolized unity and strength in diversity. The event served as a platform to advocate for women’s rights, especially in light of recent challenges to reproductive rights in the U.S.

The festival was not just about music, as attendees could engage with various art installations and exhibits, including a tribute to the Riot Grrrl movement. The vibrant atmosphere and sense of community at Daisy Chain Fields left a lasting impact on participants, with many expressing gratitude for being part of a significant moment in women’s rights activism.

The success of the festival underscored the resilience and unity of the women’s rights movement, sending a powerful message of solidarity and hope for the future.
