A new Minecraft World themed attraction is set to open at Chessington World of Adventures in 2027. This £50 million project is a collaboration between Merlin Entertainments and Mojang Studios, aiming to bring the popular game into the physical world for the first time at a major theme park.
The Minecraft-themed land will draw inspiration from the game’s iconic biomes, mobs, and items, offering new attractions such as a thrilling coaster, interactive adventures, block-built playscapes, and themed retail and dining experiences.
While the news of the immersive Minecraft theme park has been circulating, the specific location at Chessington has now been disclosed. The park promises that the rides will embody the essence of Minecraft and work is underway to transform the Wild Asia area into the Minecraft zone.
Angela Jobson, SVP of global brand at Merlin Entertainments, expressed excitement about the project, highlighting the opportunity for friends and families to engage in creative and adventurous experiences together on a grand scale.
Torfi Frans Ólafsson, senior creative director at Mojang, emphasized the significance of Minecraft World as an expansion of the Minecraft universe, aiming to provide an immersive and authentic experience for fans to enjoy with their loved ones.
For those eager for updates, Chessington is easily accessible by a 35-minute direct train ride from London Waterloo. Additionally, Chessington will introduce the World of PAW Patrol in spring 2026, featuring four new rides and themed accommodation options for families to enjoy.
