“Breaking Bad Actor RJ Mitte Passes Away at 34”

Date:

Actor and disability rights advocate RJ Mitte, known for his role in the acclaimed series “Breaking Bad,” passed away at the age of 34, as confirmed by authorities and his representatives on Monday. Cameron County Justice of the Peace Cyndi Hinojosa announced Mitte’s death around 1:30 p.m. at his residence in Brownsville, Texas. The cause of death remains undisclosed pending an autopsy.

Mitte portrayed Walter White Jr., the son of Bryan Cranston’s character, on all episodes of the hit AMC show during its five-season run. Having been diagnosed with cerebral palsy at a young age, Mitte shared in 2014 that his personal experiences with disability, physical therapy, family challenges, and medical expenses, which mirrored themes in the show, enhanced his performance.

Born and raised in Jackson, Mississippi, Mitte ventured into acting in 2006 upon relocating to Los Angeles. His breakthrough came with his role in “Breaking Bad,” where he started in his mid-teens in 2007. The show aired from 2008 to 2013.

His representatives praised Mitte for bringing authenticity to his character and for using his platform to advocate for disability awareness and inclusivity. Co-star Bryan Cranston commemorated Mitte as a talented actor who exuded joy and dedication on set and beyond, expressing his fondness for their time together.

Mitte’s acting credits extended to shows like “Switched at Birth” and “Guardians of Justice,” along with producing independent films. Beyond his acting career, Mitte was actively involved in advocacy, serving as an ambassador for organizations such as United Cerebral Palsy and Shriners Children’s. He also presided over the Mitte Foundation, which supported various philanthropic initiatives within the disability community.
