Amazon has released an updated version of its Fire TV Stick HD with a reduced price, making it an opportune moment to consider upgrading. The revamped device boasts several enhancements, such as a sleeker design, support for Wi-Fi 6 for smoother streaming, and improved performance.
The new Fire TV Stick HD is over 30% faster than its predecessors, offering quicker start-up times and enhanced app performance, according to Amazon.
A notable feature of the device is its ability to be powered directly through the TV’s USB port, eliminating the need for a separate power adapter and aiding in cable management behind the screen.
Additionally, the device introduces Amazon’s latest Fire OS software, Vega, promising a more organized interface, intelligent content suggestions, and a seamless browsing experience.
Amazon stated, “The new Fire TV Stick HD is our slimmest streaming device yet, smaller in both volume and width than previous models, and designed for Direct Power through the TV’s USB port, allowing it to sit more discreetly behind a TV without requiring a separate power adapter.”
Initially priced at £39.99, the new Fire TV Stick HD is now on sale at Amazon for £25.99, a discount of 35%.
While Amazon’s deal is appealing, consumers seeking the lowest price can find a slightly better offer elsewhere. Both Argos and Currys have reduced the price of the 2024 Fire TV Stick HD to £24.99, undercutting Amazon by £1 and offering a £15 discount from the original launch price.
The older HD model still provides access to popular streaming services like Netflix, Prime Video, and Disney+, along with Full HD playback, Alexa voice controls, shortcut buttons for quick app launches, and smart home controls for compatible devices such as lights.
Argos is offering the Fire TV Stick HD for £24.99, and Currys has a similar deal at the same price.
