SeatGeek Canada has been hit with two additional fines by the Ontario government for allegedly violating a recent law that restricts the resale of event tickets above face value. According to the province’s consumer protection website, the new fines imposed on the ticket resale platform this month amount to a total of $22,500.
One of the fines, totaling $15,000, was issued for purportedly listing a ticket for sale or facilitating its sale at a price exceeding the resale price limit. The second fine, amounting to $7,500, was imposed for allegedly not disclosing the total ticket price when purchasing a seat from a primary seller.
Neither the province nor SeatGeek Canada has provided immediate responses regarding the specific events linked to the fines or whether the company intends to contest the penalties. In a previous instance in August, the province had already fined SeatGeek Canada $25,000 for similar violations.
