“Russia Launches Prolonged Attack on Ukrainian Cities”

Date:

Ukrainian officials reported that Russia launched a prolonged attack on Kyiv and other cities, targeting ports, industrial sites, and retailers’ distribution centers with missiles and drones. Commuters in the capital were met with the sound of air defense systems engaging multiple drones following an overnight assault that included ballistic missiles and 258 drones.

Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha stated that Russia conducted a massive strike on Ukraine, hitting various key infrastructures with ballistic and hypersonic missiles and combat drones. The Ukrainian military claimed to have intercepted seven ballistic missiles, showing an improved success rate after receiving a shipment of U.S.-made Patriot interceptors.

The scarcity of interceptors has left Ukraine vulnerable to Russia’s ongoing air campaign. In response, Russia reported being under attack, with a drone strike temporarily shutting down an online retailer’s logistics complex in Ufa. Ukraine has targeted facilities of e-commerce giants like Ozon and Wildberries in its efforts against Russia’s war infrastructure.

Support for Ukraine has been promised by allies like Britain, which plans to provide classified technology for the country to manufacture Storm Shadow cruise missiles. Moscow issued a warning that it could target British military assets in and outside Ukraine in retaliation for Ukrainian strikes utilizing British weaponry.

Air-raid sirens continued in Kyiv as attack drones flew over multiple neighborhoods, causing debris to injure four individuals. In Kharkiv, one person died and two were wounded in a shopping center attack. Ukrainian retailer COMFY and a major toy company reported the destruction of their distribution centers, while chocolate firm Roshen confirmed the loss of one of its warehouses.

Russian strikes also hit various industrial sites and energy facilities in different regions, causing train delays and leaving passengers stranded. Additionally, six Russian drones breached Moldova’s airspace, drawing strong condemnation from Moldovan President Maia Sandu. One drone was discovered within Moldovan territory.
