Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have returned to the United Kingdom after residing in the United States for six years, according to reports from U.K. media. The couple’s unexpected decision to go back to Britain was disclosed less than a week ago and confirmed by outlets like the BBC and the Daily Telegraph. Their private charter flight from Van Nuys, Calif., landed at Birmingham International Airport around noon local time, as indicated by flight-tracking websites.
Their children, Prince Archie, 7, and Princess Lilibet, 5, have been enrolled in British schools and are set to commence classes in September. While the family intends to reside in a private nonroyal residence outside of London, the exact location remains undisclosed.
Harry and Meghan relinquished their royal responsibilities over six years ago to pursue business opportunities with prominent platforms such as Netflix and Spotify. Tensions escalated within the Royal Family following the couple’s departure, with allegations of mistreatment towards Meghan’s mental health and accusations of racism and media manipulation directed at certain family members.
Harry has recently expressed a desire for reconciliation, particularly to spend more time with his father, King Charles, who is undergoing treatment for an undisclosed form of cancer. However, strained relations persist with his brother, Prince William, who is next in line for the throne.
