A family residing in Squamish, British Columbia, narrowly avoided a construction mishap in the 1800 block of Hamilton Street and considers themselves fortunate to have emerged unscathed.

Claire Johnstone, along with her young son, was getting into her car near a hotel when a scaffold suddenly collapsed next to their vehicle on August 11. Startled by the loud crash, Johnstone recounted the terrifying moment when she realized the structure was hitting their car with metal and debris. Urging her husband to drive away from the building, she described the panic that ensued, with everyone in the car feeling helpless.

After parking the car and ensuring their safety, Johnstone noticed two men injured in the workplace accident, prompting her to call for emergency assistance. Despite the unfolding chaos, the family had to proceed to the hospital to have their son, Theo, checked.

Upon reviewing the Tesla’s footage at the hospital, Johnstone was shocked to see how close they came to being struck by falling debris. Reflecting on the incident, she expressed deep emotional distress, contemplating the potential outcome had the situation turned tragic.

Although the family escaped physical harm, Johnstone couldn’t shake off the emotional toll of the event, realizing how narrowly they had evaded a life-threatening situation.
