Corus Media Implements Workforce Reductions

Date:

Corus Entertainment has implemented workforce reductions within its television and radio divisions. A spokesperson for the company confirmed that a “limited number” of adjustments have been made in specific regions, affecting positions at Global B.C., Global National, News 640, and talk radio. These changes, although challenging, are deemed essential to streamline team structures sustainably, with the aim of minimizing disruptions to local news and audio services.

This latest decision follows a previous round of job cuts earlier this year, primarily concentrated in Western Canada, as part of nationwide programming modifications. Corus had recently disclosed a net loss of $36.5 million for its third quarter, with a 16% decrease in revenue compared to the previous year. The company is currently seeking approval for its proposed restructuring plan, which involves creditors exchanging debt for ownership in a new holding entity.
