“Dolly Parton’s Lasting Legacy of Giving”

Date:

Dolly Parton’s extensive history of charitable giving has been well-documented, with a recent tribute from her sister shedding light on the depth of her generosity. Stella Parton shared on Instagram that she and Dolly used to have early morning phone calls every Tuesday while enjoying their coffee.

In one of their final conversations, Dolly expressed her willingness to undergo experimental treatments even if there was no hope for her own recovery, with the hope of aiding future patients. While CBC News reached out to Dolly Parton’s publicist for confirmation on her receiving experimental medical care towards the end of her life, there has been no response so far.

Although details on potential experimental treatments remain unconfirmed, Dolly Parton’s significant contribution to COVID-19 research is widely recognized. In 2020, she donated $1 million to Nashville’s Vanderbilt University Medical Center, a portion of which was used in the development of the Moderna mRNA coronavirus vaccine.

When it was time for Dolly to receive her initial vaccine dose, she did so publicly, singing modified lyrics to her hit song “Jolene.” Dr. Naji Abumrad, who administered her vaccine, had first met Dolly at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in 2013 following a minor car accident. Their bond grew into a lasting friendship, and Dr. Abumrad was reportedly by Dolly’s side in her final moments.

Stella Parton expressed her admiration for her sister’s genuine kindness and generosity, urging others to follow Dolly’s example of leaving a positive impact on the world.
