A social media influencer, who was a contestant on the X Factor in the past, has been brought to court on charges of allegedly trying to murder another content creator after a confrontation outside a nightclub.
Gabrielle Carrington, aged 29, was detained after her car reportedly collided with three individuals, including Klaudia Zakrzewska, known as ‘Klaudiaglam’ on Instagram, outside a restaurant and bar in London’s Soho early on a Sunday morning. The court was informed of charges including attempted murder, causing serious harm with intent, causing harm, reckless driving, and driving under the influence of alcohol.
Authorities revealed that Ms. Zakrzewska, in her 30s, is in critical condition, with another victim, security personnel Anoush Chyche, suffering severe injuries, while a third victim, Latisha Armstrong, sustained minor wrist injuries.
The accusations against Carrington are specific to the alleged assaults on the victims. During her court appearance at Westminster Magistrates Court, Carrington, dressed in a casual outfit, was accompanied by a female security guard and provided basic personal details without entering a plea.
Both Carrington’s and Ms. Zakrzewska’s family and friends observed the court proceedings, with security staff present in the crowded gallery.
The prosecution stated that emergency services responded to reports of a woman being hit by a vehicle early on Sunday. Records indicate that Carrington was over the legal alcohol limit at the time of her arrest.
District Judge Nina Tempia ordered Carrington to remain in custody until further proceedings. Carrington gestured a heart sign to her supporters before being taken back to detention. Her next court appearance is scheduled for May 19 at the Old Bailey for a plea hearing.
Originally from Manchester, Carrington gained fame through The X Factor at 16 and later evolved into a social media influencer with a substantial following on Instagram.
Metropolitan Police urged witnesses to come forward with any relevant information regarding the incident, emphasizing the importance of cooperation in the investigation.
The police clarified that the incident was not linked to terrorism and encouraged the public not to share graphic footage circulating online out of respect for the victims and to avoid influencing legal proceedings.
