Monzo is set to introduce its inaugural mobile plans, offering yearly discounts to its customers. The launch of Monzo Mobile is scheduled for this summer, with a waitlist now open for sign-ups. The plans include options like 10GB of UK data for £8 per month, as well as a package featuring 30GB of UK data and 10GB of Europe roaming for £12 monthly.
Moreover, a premium plan will provide unlimited UK data along with 25GB of global roaming for £20 per month. Exclusively available to Monzo customers, the mobile service will reward loyalty with discounts, offering a 5% reduction on the monthly bill each year, up to a total discount of 30%.
All plans will offer flexibility without any exit fees, allowing customers to switch or cancel at any time. Users will have the convenience of managing their mobile bills through the Monzo app, enabling them to monitor data usage and roaming activities easily.
The service will utilize an eSIM, a digital SIM card integrated into devices, and will operate on the Virgin Media O2 network. Monzo assures more than 99% coverage across the UK with its mobile plans.
Duygu Yenidogan-Schmidt, General Manager for Core Banking at Monzo, expressed, “We’ve always believed your bank should do the hard work for you – now we’re bringing that same thinking to mobile. Monzo Mobile offers flexibility, reliable coverage, and a straightforward, transparent experience while recognizing and rewarding loyalty. It’s mobile, delivered in the Monzo way.”
While Monzo Mobile provides yearly discounts, other providers may offer cheaper upfront deals. For instance, Lebara offers 10GB of UK data for £5.95 per month on a rolling contract via comparison platforms. Talkmobile customers can access 20GB for the same price, while ID Mobile offers a 25GB UK data plan for £6 monthly and an unlimited plan for £15 per month.
For individuals out of contract, it’s advisable to review potential cost savings on their mobile bills. By analyzing current usage and comparing prices on comparison websites, customers can decide whether to switch to a new provider for better deals or negotiate better rates with their current provider.
Moreover, individuals receiving benefits should explore eligibility for social tariffs, with broadband starting from £12 per month and mobile plans from £10 per month. Eligibility criteria vary among suppliers, and specific benefits may qualify individuals for discounted support.
