British Tourist Falls into Hotel Fish Pond in Lanzarote

Date:

A British visitor was swiftly taken to the hospital after accidentally falling from the second floor of a hotel in Lanzarote into a shallow fish pond teeming with Koi carp and terrapins.

Emergency personnel, including firefighters and medical staff, promptly responded to the incident at the renowned five-star H10 Rubicon Horizons Collection in the bustling Playa Blanca resort area.

The incident occurred around 11:30 pm on Saturday, with the 70-year-old man tumbling into the fish pond located approximately two floors below street level, adjacent to a hotel buffet restaurant. Fortunately, the water depth where he landed was only about 15 inches.

Although specifics surrounding the event emerged over the weekend, key sources confirmed the man’s age and nationality only recently. According to an insider, the incident seems to have been an accidental occurrence. It is believed that while on the second floor with his spouse, the man leaned over to observe the fish pond below, resulting in him losing his balance and falling.

Upon arrival, medical professionals had already secured the elderly tourist with a neck brace. Using a rescue board, firefighters carefully extricated him from the pond before transferring him to an awaiting ambulance.

He was subsequently transported to Molina Orosa Hospital in Arrecife, the capital of Lanzarote. Presently, his current medical condition remains undisclosed.

Following the mishap, local law enforcement and Civil Guard officers were dispatched by a regional emergency coordination center to assist.

The hotel, previously known as the H10 Rubicon Palace, declined to provide any comments citing client confidentiality.

Described as an exclusive five-star resort with a design inspired by Lanzarote, the adult-only seafront establishment is a popular destination in Playa Blanca, the southernmost town in Lanzarote known for its popularity among British tourists.
