Freeview is undergoing further adjustments with its television guide receiving an overhaul, featuring repositioned channels and a name change. The most significant development is the closure of Talk (Ch 280), a British news channel known for its focus on debate, opinion-led journalism, and politics, with renowned presenters like Jeremy Kyle, Mark Dolan, and Kevin O’Sullivan.
Viewers looking to access Talk will now have to utilize the official Talk app or alternative platforms such as Samsung TVs, Roku devices, and LG screens.
In addition to this update, Freeview has announced that Wedotv Big Stories on channel 275 will be rebranded as Wedotv. Moreover, three services will be relocated on the planner.
Children’s content on Ketchup TV, Ketchup Too, and Cartoon Classics will see changes in channel placements, with Ketchup TV moving from Ch 209 to Ch 208, Ketchup Too shifting from Ch 210 to Ch 209, and Cartoon Classics transitioning from Ch 214 to Ch 210.
Freeview confirmed, “On 25th June 2026 some broadcasters are making changes to their channels. Channels on Freeview are constantly evolving, with individual channels deciding to relocate, add, or remove channels. Freeview ensures audiences have access to diverse and engaging content.”
To ensure that your TV displays the correct channels, adjustments must be made in the settings. Freeview advises, “You will need to retune your TV to update and maintain your channels and TV Guide.”
For instructions on how to retune your TV:
– Press the menu button on your box or TV remote control.
– Select ‘set-up’, ‘installation’, ‘update’, or a similar option. If prompted for a password, the default code is ‘1234’ or ‘0000’.
– Choose ‘first-time installation’ (sometimes labeled as ‘factory reset’, ‘full retune’, or ‘default settings’).
– Confirm the deletion of existing channels if prompted and the retuning process should commence automatically. Save any channels that are found when prompted.
