Environmental activists trespassed into one of Donald Trump’s Scottish golf resorts today to stage a demonstration, strategically avoiding disruption to golf activities. Greenpeace disclosed that three protesters set up six symbolic wind turbines on the fourth hole green at Trump Turnberry Golf Club in South Ayrshire early Monday morning. They swiftly removed the mock turbines as golfers approached to ensure minimal interference.
The activists’ protest directly countered the US president’s well-known aversion to wind turbines and his support for traditional oil and gas energy sources. Their action came in response to Trump’s recent endorsement on Truth Social for expanded oil and gas extraction in the North Sea, advocating for increased drilling and criticizing wind energy development.
According to Greenpeace, a majority of Scots, approximately 65%, oppose Trump’s advocacy for heightened oil and gas production, advocating instead for renewable energy alternatives. Lily-Rose Ellis, a Greenpeace climate campaigner, emphasized that renewable energy sources despised by Trump offer economic benefits, enhance security, and combat climate change, emphasizing the advantages they bring as a superior energy choice.
Trump Turnberry has been approached for comment on the incident.
