“Armed Intruder Evacuates Trump from White House Dinner”

Date:

Mayhem erupted at the annual White House correspondents’ dinner as chaos unfolded when an armed individual breached security at the Washington Hilton Hotel, leading to the swift evacuation of Donald Trump. During the incident, a Secret Service agent was shot at close range but was saved by his bulletproof vest. Meanwhile, guests inside the ballroom sought shelter by taking cover under tables. Trump, unharmed, was quickly ushered off the stage as gunshots rang out. The perpetrator, identified as 31-year-old Cole Tomas Allen from Torrance, California, was armed with multiple weapons, including a handgun, shotgun, and knives, according to law enforcement.

In the aftermath of the attack, Trump referred to the suspect as a “lone wolf whack job” during a press conference. The incident transpired around 8:35 pm local time, prompting a rapid response from the Secret Service to ensure the safety of the President as shots were heard in the vicinity.

Subsequently, at 9:17 pm, Trump made his first post on Truth Social since the incident, confirming the apprehension of the suspected gunman and praising the efforts of law enforcement. Additional updates at 9:36 pm revealed that law enforcement officials advised the President to leave the premises promptly, ensuring the safety of key officials including the First Lady, Vice President, and Cabinet members.

Later in the evening, at 10:29 pm, Trump shared CCTV footage online capturing the suspect’s movements within the hotel lobby, where he was later detained. A news conference held at 10:30 pm reiterated the characterization of the suspect as a “lone wolf whack job” by Trump, who was accompanied by FBI chief Kash Patel and Acting US Attorney General Todd Blanche.

As the night progressed, media outlets identified the suspect as Cole Tomas Allen, 31, from California, by 10:50 pm. Images from Torrance, California, at 11:10 pm depicted police conducting a search at a residence linked to the suspect. By 11:15 pm, the US Attorney for the District of Columbia announced plans to formally charge the suspect in court with various offenses, including using a firearm during a violent crime.

The incident marked the third time since 2024 that the President faced a threat from an attacker in close proximity, underscoring the need for heightened security measures. Trump emphasized the importance of enhanced security protocols in the wake of the attack, asserting a commitment to safeguarding society against such threats.
