Alpine’s Right of Review application following the Monaco Grand Prix has introduced fresh uncertainty to the race’s outcome. The team triggered the review after two penalties were imposed on driver Pierre Gasly for exceeding the pit lane speed limit by a minimal margin. Gasly’s podium finish was thwarted as he received a second penalty, dropping him to seventh place.
Alpine met the stringent criteria for the Right of Review by presenting new evidence not available to the stewards during the race. They argued that timing loop inaccuracies in the pit lane led to an overestimation of car speeds, impacting Gasly and other drivers. The team also provided data showing Gasly activated his speed limiter on time and had been cautious when entering the pit lane.
The case will proceed to a second hearing where Alpine will seek to overturn Gasly’s penalties. If successful, the Monaco race results could be revised, potentially causing discontent among teams facing similar penalties. George Russell, another driver penalized for speeding, faced consequences for not serving his penalty correctly, leading to uncertainties about his situation.
Sky’s Ultimate TV and Sky Sports bundle now includes additional services like HBO Max, Netflix, and Disney+, along with comprehensive Formula 1 coverage. Sky offers live broadcasts of practice sessions, qualifiers, and races, as well as exclusive coverage of various sports events.
Alpine’s pursuit to reverse Gasly’s penalties sets the stage for a contentious hearing that may reshape the Monaco Grand Prix standings, stirring reactions from affected teams.
