Former England and Liverpool footballer Stephen Warnock played a crucial role in assisting the police in capturing a man who had been peeping into the homes of two women for weeks. The 44-year-old ex-defender took matters into his own hands by tracking down Andrew Mulhearn, who had been repeatedly caught on the women’s Ring doorbell camera. Warnock, along with his fiancée, who is the sister of one of the victims, kept watch over the property and pursued Mulhearn when he appeared. After a 40-minute chase, police, alerted by a 999 call, were able to apprehend Mulhearn.
According to the Liverpool Echo, Mulhearn, aged 30 and residing in Mossley Hill, Liverpool, received a suspended 12-week prison sentence for two counts of non-violent harassment towards the women over several weeks last summer. Warnock explained that his actions were driven by personal reasons, emphasizing the importance of protecting young girls from such distressing situations.
The harassment began in July 2025 when the victims noticed a suspicious figure appearing on their Ring doorbell camera each night, peering through their window. Despite police advice to report any sightings, Warnock felt compelled to monitor the situation himself due to the lack of immediate police resources. Eventually, with the help of others, including a relative of the victims, Mulhearn was successfully tracked down and detained by the authorities.
Mulhearn initially denied any wrongdoing, claiming he was innocently checking if someone was home. However, he later pleaded guilty in court and was sentenced to rehabilitation days, unpaid work, and a restraining order. Warnock, now a pundit for BBC and BT Sports, emphasized the importance of understanding the impact of harassment on victims and taking a stand against predatory behavior to ensure the safety and well-being of individuals in their own homes.
