US Central Command has released video footage capturing the intense moment when US marines conducted a raid on an Iranian tanker following an alleged incident of damaging the engine room.
The footage depicts marines descending from a US aircraft onto the Iranian tanker as it approached the Strait of Hormuz, accompanied by a helicopter overseeing the boarding process.
“The US assumed full control of the cargo vessel in the Gulf of Oman, marking the initial interception since the blockade initiation on Monday,” as confirmed by sources.
In a statement accompanying the video release, Central Command revealed, “U.S. Marines disembarked from amphibious assault ship USS Tripoli (LHA 7) via helicopter to board and take control of M/V Touska.”
The operation unfolded after the USS Spruance (DDG 111) disabled Touska’s propulsion system when the vessel failed to respond to repeated warnings from US forces over a six-hour period.
President Donald Trump confirmed the seizure of the Iranian-flagged vessel on Sunday, citing attempts to breach the naval blockade. Trump highlighted the vessel’s significant size and detailed the intervention, stating, “The Iranian crew disregarded warnings, leading our Navy to halt their progress by damaging the engine room.”
