Pret A Manger recently inaugurated its inaugural drive-thru in the UK as part of a new experimental phase. The drive-thru, located in Warrington, Cheshire, near junction 21 of the M6, was launched in collaboration with Motor Fuel Group.
The renowned coffee chain is aiming to broaden its presence in transport and travel settings, entering into direct competition with established names like Costa Coffee and Starbucks, both of which already offer drive-thru services. Currently, Pret operates 220 outlets in airports, train stations, and motorway service areas across the country.
The newly opened drive-thru in Warrington features a single lane for vehicles, complemented by seating for up to 48 patrons inside the shop, along with EV charging stations and customer restroom facilities. The full range of Pret’s breakfast and lunch menu is available, including popular snacks, a variety of coffee options, and both hot and cold beverages like smoothies.
Ross Warnes, President of Pret A Manger UK and Ireland, expressed excitement about the growth prospects at travel hubs and roadside locations. He emphasized the company’s commitment to delivering the same level of friendly service and freshly prepared food that it is renowned for, even in a drive-thru setting.
Jack Tindall, Head of Food Service Operations at Motor Fuel Group, highlighted the significance of being Pret’s largest franchise partner in the UK and the milestone achieved by launching the first drive-thru. The partnership looks forward to serving the Warrington community through this innovative format.
In addition to the drive-thru venture, Pret expanded its menu in March, introducing new offerings like the All-Day Breakfast Triple sandwich and the Everyday Triple sandwich, featuring a mix of classic favorites. The menu also saw the return of the Sausage & Bacon Ciabatta hot roll and the introduction of new items like the Thai Style Chicken Baguette and the Shawarma Spiced Chicken Half Flatbread.
Pret’s strategic initiative to venture into drive-thru services aligns with its overarching goal of catering to customers’ needs in diverse locations while maintaining its signature quality and service standards.
