“Police Lift Lockdown in Kensington Gardens After Suspect Scare”

Date:

Police have lifted the lockdown in one of the UK’s Royal Parks after ensuring there is no danger to the public. Kensington Gardens was swarmed by officers following reports of a suspicious substance near the Embassy of Israel. The Metropolitan Police responded to the discovery of several suspicious items, including two jars containing a powdered substance on Friday morning.

Residents were advised to steer clear of the gardens as authorities conducted a major investigation into an online video featuring individuals claiming to have targeted the nearby Embassy of Israel with drones carrying hazardous substances. The drones were suspected to be carrying radioactive and carcinogenic materials.

Armed police, counter-terrorism units, and officers in protective gear were seen searching the area, along with divers from the underwater search team near the Round Pond ornamental lake. The London Fire Brigade also deployed fire investigation dogs trained to detect chemical traces.

A significant police cordon surrounded the park with signs indicating closure due to hazardous conditions. The substances found were later determined to be non-hazardous, but the investigation is ongoing.

Commander Helen Flanagan of Counter Terrorism Policing London expressed gratitude to the public for their cooperation during the police operation. The police continue to look into the possible link between the items found and the online video. They are collaborating closely with the Embassy of Israel to ensure the site’s safety.

The public is urged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the authorities. Emergency situations should be reported by calling 999 or online at www.gov.uk/ACT.
