A woman, aged 29, who tragically lost her life in a sudden attack along the road, was honored today as a person with an exceptional heart during her burial.
The mourning relatives of Scarlett Faulkner attended her funeral today, marking three weeks since she suffered severe head injuries in an assault near Birdhill, a town in County Tipperary, Ireland. Her family, who had been by her side, confirmed her passing on Monday evening after being on life support at Cork University Hospital for several weeks.
Heartfelt accolades were shared this afternoon at St Munchin’s parish in Limerick, where Scarlett, a local mother, was remembered by her sister as having a unique heart.
According to the Irish Mirror, Victoria Faulkner delivered a touching eulogy at the funeral, highlighting Scarlett’s positive impact on her family’s lives. In a packed church, she expressed her intention to cherish every shared memory.
She fondly recalled Scarlett as a person who always brought laughter, improved bad days, and will be missed for her warm smile and caring nature.
The sister pledged to seek justice for Scarlett and emphasized the deep love her mother, father, and daughter held for her, promising to ensure the justice she deserves.
She continued, “You were cherished by all of us, from your ten sisters and five brothers, and especially by your beloved daughter Oceanna, whom you adored as much as she adored you.”
“Although your absence leaves a void in our hearts, you touched the lives of many. You were a devoted mother, daughter, sister, sister-in-law, and friend, leaving behind a precious gift, ‘Oceanna,’ who resembles you in many ways.”
Following Scarlett’s assault, two individuals, a teenage girl and a woman in her forties, were brought to court in connection with the incident a week later.
During the funeral mass, Canon Donal McNamara, the parish priest at St Munchin’s parish, urged attendees to focus on “forgiveness” in the wake of the mother’s passing, emphasizing the healing power of forgiveness even in the face of deep wounds.
Scarlett will be laid to rest at Ballycannon cemetery in Meelick.
