British armed forces successfully thwarted Russian submarines attempting to spy on crucial undersea cables during a period when global attention was primarily focused on the Iran crisis. The Defence Secretary, John Healey, delivered a stern message to Russian President Vladimir Putin, cautioning against any interference with the vital infrastructure in the north Atlantic.
