The image, released alongside a controversial attack on Pope Leo, stirred backlash among some of Trump’s prominent Christian supporters. Trump attempted to justify the image by linking it to the Red Cross, a charity organization he claimed to support.
Critics, including Megan Basham and Isabel Brown from the conservative Daily Wire, condemned the image as blasphemous and inappropriate. Basham demanded its immediate removal, expressing disbelief at Trump’s actions and urging him to seek forgiveness.
Trump later clarified that the image was meant to portray him as a doctor associated with the Red Cross, defending his intentions amid the growing criticism. In a separate social media post, Trump criticized Pope Leo’s stance on foreign policy and nuclear weapons, sparking further controversy between the two figures.
