Lavrov seized upon dubious claims by the FSB security service alleging a plot involving Ukrainian intelligence and MI6 to defect a warplane crew and a hypersonic missile. Despite the questionable nature of the allegations, Lavrov condemned London’s alleged role in stoking tensions and provoking incidents.
Meanwhile, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy of Ukraine expressed interest in procuring 25 Patriot air defense systems from the United States to counter relentless Russian aerial assaults. Zelenskyy acknowledged the cost and production timeline challenges but urged European countries to lend their Patriots to Ukraine promptly, emphasizing the urgency of the situation.
