“Real Madrid’s Alexander-Arnold Returns to Liverpool”

Date:

Liverpool’s head coach, Arne Slot, expressed that he hasn’t given much thought to the reception Real Madrid’s defender, Trent Alexander-Arnold, will receive at Anfield. The English player returned to Liverpool for the first time since his departure, having left the club at the end of his contract. Despite his controversial exit, Real Madrid’s interest in including him in their Club World Cup squad led to Liverpool receiving a fee for his transfer. After overcoming several weeks of injuries, Alexander-Arnold was declared fit to join Xabi Alonso’s squad.

The anticipation surrounding Alexander-Arnold’s return to his birth city added an intriguing element to their Champions League match. However, Slot emphasized that his focus remains on his team and the Real Madrid players rather than the reception for Alexander-Arnold.

Ahead of the game, Alexander-Arnold acknowledged that he has no control over how the fans will welcome him back to Anfield. He expressed his mixed emotions and emphasized that his feelings towards Liverpool remain unchanged regardless of the reception he receives.

Before the match, Alexander-Arnold paid his respects at the Anfield memorial for Diogo Jota and Andre Silva, alongside Xabi Alonso. The former Liverpool player and current Real Madrid manager encouraged Alexander-Arnold to savor his return to the club, emphasizing the importance of enjoying the moment.
