Formula One Cancels Bahrain and Saudi Grand Prix

Date:

Formula One is set to cancel the upcoming Grand Prix events in Bahrain and Saudi Arabia due to the ongoing conflict in the region. The races were originally scheduled to take place in April as part of the 2026 season, with Bahrain GP set for April 10-12 and Saudi Arabia’s Jeddah following the next weekend.

The decision to cancel both races comes as both countries have been impacted by the conflict involving Iran, the USA, and Israel. This move will reduce the current season’s schedule from 24 races to 22. While F1 and the FIA have not officially commented yet, FIA President Mohammed Ben Sulayem mentioned on social media the close monitoring of the situation and the importance of safety in making decisions.

With the cancellation of the races, there will be no F1 action in April, leading to a five-week gap between the Japanese GP and the Miami GP in early May. Currently, F1 is in Shanghai for the Chinese Grand Prix, with George Russell expected to start on pole for Saturday’s Sprint. Russell, representing Mercedes, leads the early driver standings with 25 points, followed by teammate Andrea Kimi Antonelli in second place.

Fans of Formula 1 can catch all the live action, including practices, qualifiers, and races, with Sky’s Essential TV and Sky Sports bundle, offering significant savings and access to a wide range of TV channels, Netflix, and Discovery+.
