A tragic fire at a retirement home in Tuzla, Bosnia, has claimed the lives of at least 11 individuals and caused injuries to over 30 others. The blaze originated on the seventh floor of the building last night, with witnesses describing flames engulfing the upper levels of the structure.

Nermin Niksic, the Prime Minister of Bosnia’s Muslim-Croat region, referred to the incident as a “disaster of enormous proportions.” Video footage captured flames emanating from the building’s windows, prompting authorities to commence victim identification procedures and initiate a fire cause investigation when conditions permit.

Ruza Kajic, a resident on the third floor, recounted being awakened by a loud noise and witnessing burning debris falling from above. She mentioned concerns for bedridden individuals on the higher floors. The retirement home issued a statement affirming that authorities are actively investigating the circumstances surrounding the tragic event.

Reports indicated that numerous patients were receiving treatment for carbon monoxide poisoning, with three individuals in critical condition. Savo Minic, Prime Minister of the Serb Republic, expressed solidarity and readiness to assist in the aftermath of the incident.
